Altinkum (means Golden Sands), is situated on Turkey's beautiful Aegean Coast. Not only is it located just 1 hour and 10 minutes from Bodrum airport, it is also in a convienient location to visit the most interesting and historical sites that West Turkey is proud to share.
Boardering Altinkum, is the ancient town of Didyma. Present day Didim, is now a growing tourist town, where you are able to rub shoulder and mingle with the locals.
Didim is a famous historical town due to the spectacular Appollo Temple. Although it was never finished, the full story of this ruin more than makes up for it.
Altinkum is a small friendly resort, which, in comparison to the larger tourist areas, still maintains the natural unspoilt feel of Turkey.
The local market is held in Didim every Saturday, which is only a 10 minute ride from the resort centre. Didim, is also where the ruins of the famous Temple of Apollo are to be found. The Temple is one of the most outstanding buildings of the ancient Greek world, not only in size but also in architectural style. It can be explored during the day to closely examine the ruins and then at night to enjoy a meal at the Asik and Kamaci Restaurants which overlook the temple and serve delicious seafood.
